Exploring the techniques of image-making (film, digital, virtual reality), Mali Arun is developing a practice at the intersection of fiction, documentary, and video art. Wunderwelten (Wonderland), a monumental video triptych, is set in a theme park where thousands of thrillseekers gather. Amid ghost trains and rollercoasters is an endless swirl of rides and emotions. Arun’s contemporary fable, which sucks us into an artificial world, arouses contradictory emotions – a cocktail of fascination, dread, dreams and delusion.
