The mixed-media work of Hashel Al Lamki scrutinises the durability of our current systems at a time of ecological upheaval. Located in the rotunda of the Musée Guimet, his installation Rodinia, named after a supercontinent that formed millions of years ago before fragmenting during the Neoproterozoic Era, features an ensemble of paintings, videos and objects that explores the historical and geographical cycles of natural and human time. Revealing universal anxieties about the scarcity of resources and the loss of bearings, his poetic and dreamlike piece reflects both the fragility and the strength of our planet through mythical and intimate stories.
