The Fort de Feyzin, built between 1875 and 1877, is an important part of Feyzin's architectural heritage. It forms part of Lyon's second ring road and the Séré de Rivières system. The site covers 22,000 square meters of built-up area and 26 hectares of woodland. Initially designed to defend Lyon to the south, it also protected several surrounding areas. Mainly used as a garrison for the army and gendarmerie, it became the property of the commune of Feyzin in July 2003. Today, the fort hosts an equestrian center and offers tours and various annual events. Access is free of charge, and the woods and ditches around the Fort are also open to walkers, offering a loop of around 1.5 km and beautiful views of the Fort.
