Feminine noun - a set of threads that cross with the warp threads, widthways, to make up a fabric; figuratively: that which forms the basis of the binding of an organised thing.

Between October ‘23 and June ’24, 180 residents of Feyzin, Vénissieux, Corbas and St-Fons got together to build a monumental work imagined by choreographer Jordi Galí. Together, people from 16 to 89 years old and from all walks of life, they created a weaving several metres long, for an outdoor installation exhibited at the Fort de Feyzin. A visual and audio exhibition accompanies the installation, tracing the original process of this creation and revealing the participants.

Session after session, 180 people from all walks of life came together between October ’23 and June ’24 to weave together – knot after knot – a monumental work imagined by choreographer Jordi Galí, from the Lyon-based company Arrangement Provisoire.

François Payrastre (musician and sound designer) and Julien Penichost (photographer and videographer) were privileged witnesses and keen observers of this traveling adventure. In this exhibition, the two partners share the life stories – sometimes extraordinary, sometimes familiar – of these committed weavers, through a double portrait: the views of their hands and the fragments of stories they carry.

In Feyzin, St-Fons, Vénissieux and Corbas, this collective, nomadic creation gradually took shape, and with it sprang unexpected encounters and unusual experiences. Surveying a new or rediscovered territory, an ephemeral community has come together, bringing together long-standing residents and newcomers, teenagers and senior citizens, students and amateurs, users of cultural spaces and passers-by in a single creative venture.

This project has 2 main partners, metropolitan structures working to promote the social autonomy of individuals: France Horizon and ANEPA Tremplin. With them, Arrangement Provisoire shares the conviction that artistic creation and practice are true levers of emancipation.

8 partner venues hosted the 17 sessions: EHPAD La Maison Fleurie in Feyzin, L’Épicerie Moderne, le Corner, la Médiathèque et le Fort, le CAP in St-Fons, Le Polaris in Corbas and L’Espace Pandora in Vénissieux.

In addition, 16 artists, companions and accomplices contributed their own practices to the project. Each session was therefore an opportunity to experience an artistic practice with the participants: singing, listening to music, dance, ceramics, poetry, writing, object theater… Moments of sensitive discovery and personal expression, renewed at each session.

TRAMES is the meeting of people and places around a common, unifying goal, it’s a collective gesture, made up of individual and singular contributions, that seeks to restore confidence in oneself and in others, an experience to nourish sensibilities, a lever for emancipation, an impetus

The installation and exhibition will run from 4 July to 31 December 2024. The Fort will be closed from 4 to 23 August 2024. Access to the work at all times during the Fort's opening hours: Monday to Saturday from 8am to 8pm and Sunday from 8am to 6pm.
