Ordonnance! is an exhibition by 4 photographers from the item collective, at the Musée urbain Tony Garnier. Sandra Calligaro, Romain Étienne, Paloma Laudet and Philippe Somnolet tell the story of the Edouard Herriot Hospital through the lense of photography, a place dedicated to healthcare. Through its architecture, they retrace a medical, human and collective history.

For this exhibition, item's photographers examine Tony Garnier's "city of the sick" and its topicality, to create a narrative based on the underground galleries, a cross-disciplinary space involving all the hospital's departments. These galleries invite us to question the flows, circulation, light, myths and legends of the Édouard Herriot hospital. How can we connect with the outside world in an underground/overground perspective? How can we translate the past and present lives of patients and carers? How do we shape imaginary worlds, both fictional and social/political? How can we create images that allow time, place and dimension to coexist, telling a story in constant flux? The aim of this project is to bring together different viewpoints and propose a collective approach to artistic creation around the hospital. It will be carried out with the help and support of the public, enabling us to enhance their stories and recognize their social, patrimonial and current value. One of the challenges of this project is to succeed in creating a body of images questioning both the place of the hospital in the city, and of this "city within the city".

Opening on October 10, 2024 at 6 p.m. Exhibition opens on October 11.
