Lia Villevieille explores the survival of folklore. From legendary tales to superstitious rituals, popular magical thinking is often discredited but continues to exert its influence on our relationship to the world. The artist hybridizes disciplines: drawing with vegetable pigment, mask, ceremonial artifact in earthenware, embroidery, publishing, engraving. A vision nourished by anatomy, botany, hermetic currents, dada and punk. Between sacred ritual and profane child's play, precious or abject matter, she also questions the body: in its limits, its standards, its organic link to other animals and plants.
