Address

67 Rue Saint-Pierre,
43150 Le Monastier-sur-Gazeille

Aponia Lieu d’Art Contemporain formerly based near Paris moved to this beautiful region and opened a new venue in Monastier-sur-Gazeille. Created by Eve Frison Barret and Alain Barret in 1998 in France, Villiers sur Marne (94), both convinced of the importance of educating people about contemporary art and the necessity of fostering exchanges between residents, visitors, tourists and artworks. Aponia aims to showcase and introduce the work of artists who question present times.

The gallery offers a rigorous yet accessible program to diverse audiences. Aponia welcomes projects that challenge, surprise and initiate audiences. Our structure is intended as a place of encounter and discussion with artists, and as a partner that builds dialogues and links with institutions and stakeholders of the region. Since August 2021, thanks to a partnership with the municipality of Monastier-sur-Gazeille, Aponia has also had access to an atypical space : Saint Jean Church, a listed historic monument.
