Through drawing, video, installation and music, Nicolas Gaillardon develops a universe of elusive temporality, which can be read as an archaeological vision of a present in transition. The artist plunges us into the atmosphere of a futuristic road movie, where all that remains are traces of a world we can recognise as our own.
The Lyon Biennial is intended as a crossroads where questions about the links that weave our existence and our interactions with others and our environment converge. At the heart of this exploration, Nicolas Gaillardon's works are striking and sensitive testimonies to a present in metamorphosis. Through drawing, video, installation and music, the artist creates a universe imbued with an enigmatic temporality, inviting us to reflect deeply on our relationship with the world and with society. His landscapes, from which emerge objects that bear witness to our interactions, sound like the timbre of a shared, sometimes enigmatic narrative. And yet, beyond this desert-like appearance, there persists a melancholy poetry, a fragile resistance to nature. In this way, Nicolas Gaillardon's work captures the ephemeral and the immutable, bringing spectators together by offering a meditation on the transience of our existence, the persistence of beauty and hope.
