In 2024, it's artist Florian de la Salle's turn to take over the raw space of Pile Pont Expo.
Conceived in-situ, the installation In the Fold of the Syncline features immense blotting papers tinted using a technique borrowed from chemistry, chromatography. The artist provokes a sensitive sense of wonder by scientifically experimenting with color and its various reactions in contact with matter, and by playing with the monumental dimension of the site, the work it proposes and the external landscape. Suspended in spirals, these papers create circulation spaces that modify the perception of the place, amplified by the play of light throughout the day.
The title of the exhibition evokes the geological formations that can be observed around Pile Pont. In this way, Florian de la Salle introduces a new stratum of color into the Saint-Gervais landscape, to which chance is no stranger. The visitor, enveloped by color and sound, also discovers objects related to the artist's practice. Playing with this atypical location and the surrounding landscape, Florian de la Salle invites the viewer to enjoy an immersive experience of color in this concrete setting.
