The Centre d'art Madeleine Lambert is presenting a solo exhibition by the artist Florian Mermin. The exhibition will feature new works based on the artist's favourite themes: flowers, perfumes and the body.

The artist produced all the works on site in Vénissieux, at the Centre d'art and in the Ateliers Henri Matisse, the city's amateur workshops, which are equipped in particular for ceramic creation.

Florian Mermin draws his inspiration from local culture, particularly the history of rose growers, who settled in Vénissieux at the end of the 19th century to cultivate and create new varieties of roses. Working also from the town's old cemetery - which contains most of the graves of these rose growers - he explores our relationship with flowers, roses and eternal rest.

The works in the exhibition will take a variety of forms: ceramics, photographs and a film produced in Vénissieux, as well as a perfume, created by the artist in collaboration with a perfumer, which will waft through the former ballroom of the Maison du Peuple, imbuing the works with an old-fashioned aura.

With the collaboration of Amélia Feuer, Aurore Quintard, Ania Wozniak and Camille Chemardin.
