Born in 1988, Veks Van Hillik is already a renowned artist in the Lowbrow movement both in France and abroad. He has been drawing since childhood, drawing inspiration from the fauna and flora around him, which have become the main subjects of his works. A talented tattoo artist, painter, and street artist, he is rightly considered a genius in his field. Whether working in oil on wood or with spray paint on immense walls, his works are distinguished by the surreal touch of an artist inspired by the works of illustrator Gustave Doré, La Fontaine's Fables, Caravaggio, and Dali. Like many artists of his generation, Veks Van Hillik draws heavily from graphic references in pop culture, video games, and comics. From Rome to Brooklyn, or from Grenoble to Melbourne, Veks leaves his mark on city walls and in galleries alike. This exhibition is a retrospective of his artistic journey, highlighting the evolution of his style and influences over the years.
Opening reception on September 5th at 6:30 PM at Spacejunk Art Center in Lyon.
