For his exhibition "Deuxième regard," Jochen Lempert invites us not only to see but to closely observe a nature that continuously communicates beyond our usual attention. If we take the time to pause and dream, we can perceive the dizzying array of its multiple worlds. This naturalistic perspective also constantly bridges to our social, tangible, and political realities.

Jochen Lempert is a German artist and researcher whose photographs are created exclusively in black and white. Through light, he captures fauna and flora and then develops his images. He stages them in a manner of intuitive arrangements that form in the background, confronting visitors with a free and erratic nature.

Born in 1958 in Moers, Germany, Jochen Lempert is a trained biologist and lives in Hamburg. In 1979, he co-founded the experimental film collective Schmelzdahin, exploring the decomposition processes of celluloid films. In the late 1980s, he turned to photography, developing a poetic and meticulous black-and-white practice that captures nature and its smallest details. His work has been recognized with several prestigious awards, including the Alfried Krupp Foundation Grant for Contemporary Photography in 1993 and the Camera Austria Award in 2017. Represented by ProjecteSD gallery in Barcelona and BQ gallery in Berlin, his works are exhibited internationally in institutions such as the Hamburger Kunsthalle and the Museum Ludwig.
