I didn't know where my fragility came from.

I went through several depressions, every two years from the age of 22.

It was at the age of 30, the year that just passed, that my body remembered.

A rape, when I was a child.

My attacker has no face.

But the sensation of a man's sex entering me,

and the terror, the disgust, came back to me.

I don't know when it happened.

Traumatic amnesia.

I used to only draw faces, in black and white.

I started to draw, to paint on large formats, in colour,

a few months before my body remembered.

There were no longer just faces, there were bodies.

I painted them as self-portraits.

I believe that painting helped me to reintegrate my body.

I am beginning to know where I come from.
